DSCF0828.jpg4 viewsLooking west from my campsite across the inlet of Lake Imogene. I was not expecting to find a shallow, grassy inlet. I was hoping it would be deep here, allowing me to fish from rock walls, free of trees which make casting flies difficult.

DSCF0835.jpg4 viewsMy Zpacks Duplex 2 occupied this spot three nights. Unusual for me to stay that long in one spot!

DSCF0861.jpg
DSCF0861.jpg4 viewsI arrive on the summit at 4:45 pm. I take a series of shots immediately. I don't see a summit register, but this is clearly the summit. The view is southwest down to Hidden Lake in the foreground. Further south is Virginia Lake, which I have visited on a previous trip, leaving the Petit-Toxaway Loop.

DSCF0865.jpg4 viewsTo the southwest is Imogene Lake (below center of frame to the left side of frame), where I started at noon. The Boulder Mountains are across the Stanley Valley (on the skyline right of center).

DSCF0866.jpg4 viewsTo the south, Snowyside Peak, rising south of Toxaway Lake (hidden from view), appears as the highest peak on the skyline, just left of center. I have summited this peak twice.

DSCF0822.jpg3 viewsI arrive at the southeast end of Imogene Lake at 5 pm. The sun is low enough that I really needed to shade the lens with my hand. I want to find a campsite near the inlet. By the time I get the tent set up, the food hang in place, and filter water, I doubt I will have time to fish. I am not familiar with campsites here, aside from being tired.

DSCF0823.jpg3 viewsFinally the sun reaches my camp. I was on the verge of being cold last night, and could have remedied that quickly by using that down jacket on my legs inside the sleeping bag, rather than as a pillow.

DSCF0834.jpg3 viewsA finger of the lake just east of my campsite; fall colors in morning sun. I could see trout cruising the shallows here.
