IMG_7037.JPG3 viewsHidden high above and west of Scoop Lake, not yet visible, is Lonesome Lake. On the descent, I meet two women inquiring about the cross-country route I have just traversed. They plan to go out the same way I have just come in.

IMG_7038.JPG3 viewsI establish camp just on the western shore of Hummock Lake, just north of the stream flowing in from Hidden Lake. My closest neighbors are on the opposite side, just north of the outflow stream. I am surprised how many people are back here this late in the year.

IMG_7046.JPG3 viewsI fish both Hummock and here at Hidden Lake, but am not successful. The brookie I caught this morning is a welcome addition to the backpack meal.

IMG_7049.JPG3 views7 am at Hummock Lake. The weather was clear and relatively warm, so I left the tent in star-gazing mode the evening before.

IMG_7052.JPG3 views24 minutes later, the first hard light is hitting the surrounding peaks. At 9514', I am seeing some nice alpenglow with the sunrise.

IMG_7084.JPG3 viewsPerhaps I wrongly assumed that because I could not see trout swimming in the amazingly deep, clear water, they simply were not there. Now I regret not having made a few casts.

IMG_7101.JPG3 viewsPhoto (closer) documenting possible route descending from Scree Lake about midway between outlet and top of ridge; 5:24 pm. I increased my pace in order to reach Four Lakes Basin, and unfortunately, did not stop to take any more photos the rest of the day.
