IMG_0056.JPG2 viewsAt 9260', Tiel Lake (foreground) was probably the lowest elevation we traversed. Granite Lake is to the right.
IMG_0061.JPG2 viewsMule Lake (about 9400' unnamed on our map) just downstream from Hidden Lake. The camp had a huge canvas tent supported by hewn timber and was occupied by a large party. Numerous stock had carried in just about every amenity.
IMG_0062.JPG2 viewsThe trail crosses a wide stream above this lake. The packers staying there told us it was Mule Lake.
IMG_0072.JPG2 viewsThe main trail back to Island Lake takes a large, unnecessary zig-zag, unless you want to head to Beartooth Lake.

IMG_9854.JPG2 viewsThe northeast ridge of Lonesome Mountain looks more difficult than the south ridge. Someone we met said his Montana Climber's guide described the easiest route in two words: east side.
IMG_9860.JPG2 viewsOur route heads west of Cloverleaf Lakes.
