IMG_6786.JPG7 viewsWashington Lake! I wash my feet and change socks for the final 2.5 miles to the car. Next time I will consider a direct cross country route over the saddle directly west of the lake to the upper Chamberlain Lake (9849').Sep 20, 2014

IMG_6772.JPG8 viewsThe lower of the Chamberlain Lakes (9197'). The nicest spot was occupied by a party that looked settled in for a week or two. This was surprising, the day after Labor Day.Sep 20, 2014

IMG_6776.JPG8 viewsThe trail passes this little jewel at the southwest end of Chamberlain Basin before the steep climb to the pass into the Washington Creek Drainage. The color is stunning! Did not fish here.Sep 20, 2014

IMG_6770.JPG9 viewsDescending to the middle Chamberlain Lake (9477'). We camped the previous night about half way along the far (east) side at a horse packer camp complete with a steel cable stock tie. Not a very aesthetic camp, and very little firewood to cook our trout. I had no luck fishing here the previous evening, or the next morning.Sep 20, 2014

IMG_6764.JPG9 viewsPhotographing the upper Chamberlain Lake (9849'). Directly over that ridge behind the Professor is Washington Lake. It seems we could have saved ourselves considerable time by traveling cross country. There is considerable uphill encountered on the trail once it turns north along Washington Creek. Looking at the map, there does not seem to be much gain. That trail, however, felt steep to me. Perhaps it was because I was under the mistaken impression it was mostly downhill to Fourth of July Lake.Sep 20, 2014

IMG_6766.JPG8 viewsI had no luck fishing the upper Chamberlain Lake (9849'). It was windy in the morning, and difficult to find a favorable spot. There were some large fish out there, but none I was able to reach given my limited casting ability.Sep 20, 2014
