IMG_7973.JPG22 viewsAlpenglow interrupts dinner again! Photography trumps dinner. Fleeting light such as this always sends me running for the camera. It changes constantly, and is gone in minutes. Thompson Peak stands majestically over our camp at 8900'.Aug 30, 2017

IMG_7931.JPG21 viewsAs I recall, there is a waterfall at the inlet of this lake. There was so much snow this year, the waterfall is completely hidden under the snow couloir in the center of the photo! See photos in the gallery, "Thompson Peak, via Goat Lake, September 13, 2013" to see the waterfall in a lower snow year.Aug 30, 2017

IMG_7927.JPG15 viewsThe polarizer filter is "dialed out" to capture the shimmer on the lake. The shutter speed is slow enough to suggest moving water, but without a tripod, it is fast enough to hand hold and still get a sharp image. Four and a half pounds of tripod would have been more than I could bear.Aug 30, 2017
