IMG_7907.JPG24 viewsLooking back toward the Thompson Peak/Mickey's Spire saddle (center, behind arete leading down from Thompson). We took advantage of the snow to expedite our descent.

IMG_7911.JPG24 viewsMike at the entrance to the basin leading to the Thompson Peak/Mickey's Spire saddle. The couloir drops off steeply beyond. Our camp lies 1000 vertical feet below, about dead center in the photo.

IMG_7913.JPG22 viewsTo supplement our backpack meals, I fly-fished the lake that can be seen directly above Mike's pack. I caught two trout the evening before, and another the morning we walked out.

IMG_7916.JPG21 viewsOne of the more beautiful lakes in the meadow above our camp. This tent is pitched too close to the lake, according to the rules on the wilderness permit. There was a dog present to discourage any wilderness rangers. Bryce, the ranger who passed through our camp was very friendly, and the conversation was informing to say the least. Cool!

IMG_7920.JPG20 viewsThe same backlit moss, with polarizing filter rotated to allow the reflections. I like the sparkling quality.

IMG_7922.JPG16 viewsWe paused here for a well deserved break. On the menu; salami, sharp cheddar, and homemade whole grain rye and wheat sesame crackers. And more photography!
