IMG_4335.JPG10 viewsThis tunnel appears to lead deep into the canyon wall, but in realitiy is only a few feet long. The striations seemed as if carved precisely by a machine. At the base of the wall on the right is some of the dried, curled top layer of mud, that resembles shaved chocolate.

IMG_4336.JPG12 viewsTwo hours and 3 miles below the Middle Trail Exit we come upon the infamous rock jamb. It is not obvious which way to go. Footprints everywhere indicate people explore numerous routes over what is touted to be the most difficult obstacle in the slot canyon.

IMG_4337.JPG12 viewsOn the river left side we discover one route (as seen from below) consisting of a fixed rope and chopped steps.

IMG_4338.JPG13 viewsIn the middle of the slot is the Rabbit Hole, a tunnel under the house-size boulders. We are fortunate in that the passage is not blocked by debris, and scurry through.

IMG_4339.JPG14 viewsThis passage is just downstream from the Rabbit Hole and the fixed rope.
