Horsetail Falls, sunset. |
I read about and saw the photograph of this spectacular phenomenon in Mountain Light by Galen Rowell. The trick is to be there on one the few days each year when the sun's angle creates the optimum balance of light and shade. If the weather cooperates by allowing the last of the late afternoon's rays to penetrate from the west, you might be in for a stunning natural display. Oh, and one minor detail...there has to be enough water in Horsetail Creek! These events came together once again late one afternoon in early 1993. |
